Green bowl on red clay - tartan pattern
Green bowl on red clay - tartan pattern
A regular and symmetrical pattern for a tartan effect, lines and patterns of weaving and sculpture.
This bowl was wheel-thrown then stamped by hand, each pattern requires 9 applications of 4 or 5 different tools, squares, rectangles and lines. The complexity of the pattern lies in the regularity and delicate repetition. Many Celtic musical notes sing on this piece (unique at the moment). A glaze juice was applied with a sponge to accentuate the contrast of the patterns and added a cooking effect.
